I'm a car enthusiast and belong to the local BMW Club. I like older cars and have 2004 and 1990 models. I've never really enjoyed new cars or the dealer experience that goes with them. At Nixon Automotive I get all the specialized knowledge and equipment my cars need, plus great service without being pressured to perform expensive and unneeded procedures. I like to be involved with my car service even though I don't do the work myself. I really enjoy the conversations I have with Ryan to figure out what's going on and how to approach the problem. He always gives me a good over view, and then we decide what needs doing right away and what's ok to wait for next time. On my last visit I had a vibration happening on acceleration. He suggested starting with the Transmission mounts which were sagging. That fixed the whole problem without having to move on to other possible causes. They also replaced the brake fluid which improved brake performance and pedal feel. I feel like my car is back to operating as it should and the driving experience is much more pleasurable. That's why I bought my BMW's! I really trust these guys to do a great job and keep my cars in top shape without breaking the bank. It's well worth a trip to Burnaby to get the best BMW service in the Lower Mainland.

I've been a customer of Nixon Automotive since 2005. Through several unusual and quirky BMWs, Mike and Ryan and their team have handled it all with aplomb -- from oilservices to suspension work to electronics to major surgery behind the dashboard to major work on exotic Alpina engines, BMW Motorsport engines and V12s, nothing I've been able to throw at these guys has ever stopped them. I am most impressed by their reasonable and proactive approach. On multiple occasions, their attention to detail has saved me from impending failures which would certainly have left me stranded, but I have never felt like they've replaced anything that didn't need replacing. These guys are true diagnosticians, not just parts-swappers. They are creative and think outside the box in coming up with solutions that solve problems, and often these solutions are more effective than what the dealer would do. I am quite mechanically savvy myself and have turned more than a wrench or two on my own vehicles, so I have always appreciated Nixon's no-nonsense approach and detailed explanations. I've never been asked to pay for any work where I didn't fully understand and appreciate the value. Even more important than the great work they've always done taking care of my beasts, I've always felt very well taken care of as Mike and Ryan's customer. Communication has always been excellent, there are never any surprises (when mechanical surprises have surfaced, they have always presented me with options and have always been receptive to my input), and the whole operation is really well run. I have a lot of friends in a lot of different car communities, and have owned other, "higher-maintenance" European cars... so I can safely tell you that this type of quality experience from independent shops like Nixon isn't something you run into on every corner. This experience is shared by my friends and colleagues who are also Nixon customers. As the icing on the cake, access is very convenient -- just a short walk from the Royal Oak SkyTrain station. Whether your Ultimate Driving Machine is a daily beater that you love (like Moby Dick, my E38 750iL that I couldn't possibly think of daily-ing without Nixon), or a precious rarity that you treasure, whether you need the oil changed in your M10 or a full rebuild of your S85 (or even crazier, your Alpina BiTurbo or 4.6L V8) don't hesitate to give Nixon a try. Getting to have these guys work on my cars has been a highlight of BMW ownership. I would not have derived anywhere near as much enjoyment from my BMWs over the years without them. These guys clearly love what they do, and it shows.
